Dudley House, a Grade II* listed residence, is a magnificent example of London’s traditional heritage. Located at 100 Park Lane in Mayfair, this 44,000-square-foot masterpiece is one of the few surviving townhouses of its kind. Named after the Ward family—holders of the Baron Ward, Viscount Dudley and Ward, and Earl of Dudley titles—Dudley House boasts a rich history and artistic significance.
Originally acquired in 1742, the house was transformed over the centuries by various owners. In 1885, architect Samuel Whitfield Daukes added its most celebrated features: an 81-foot picture gallery and a 50-foot ballroom, both designed for art and social splendour.
The house suffered during the Blitz in World War II, and subsequent decades saw it fall into disrepair while serving as office space. By 2006, however, a private owner initiated a meticulous restoration led by Formation Architects, with interiors by Alberto Pinto. This restoration faithfully revived the grandeur of the picture gallery and ballroom, with classical wood carvings expertly hand-carved by Agrell in collaboration with TMJ Interiors.
Now regarded as one of London’s most valuable private residences, Dudley House is a rare survivor of the grand mansions that once lined Park Lane. Alongside Stanhope House, it stands as a testament to historic elegance and the enduring legacy of fine craftsmanship.
