The beautiful carved wood doors of Aix-en-Provence

If you need another excuse to go to Aix-en-Provence other than the architecture, food, wine, and wonderful shopping, then check out these carved doors. This town is a woodcarver’s dream. I am not sure why there are so many here, but they certainly are elaborate and must have cost a few Francs back in the day. So while my wife is in one of the many little boutiques, I hang out and take pictures of the doors while pretending I don’t see her gesturing to me to “come and look at this …” — Ian Agrell
